
The meeting scheduled for August 22nd revolves around the theme of “Special Needs and Carers.”
The session will commence at 5:45 with Chief Mentors addressing housekeeping matters and introductions. Following that, participants will engage with the “Word of the Week” presented by VDS and a Newsround segment.
The meeting’s highlights include:
- VDS representatives Josh C and Josh S will share their reflections on “Community Dentistry Work Experience.” They will delve into the skills dentists showcase while treating patients, emphasising the relevance of these skills across various medical disciplines.
- The VMS segment will spotlight “Special Needs and Careers in the NHS.” Presented by Didan and Abdul/Jasmine, this session will provide insights into special needs considerations within medical careers and the NHS.
- The VVS session led by Felicity will revolve around “Communication with Special Needs Owners and Assistance Dogs.” The talk will encompass how communication is established with owners with special needs, the transformative impact of assistance dogs on their lives, and how animals with special needs are cared for, including those with neurological disorders and mobility challenges.
The session will conclude with a Q&A, offering attendees the opportunity to engage further, clarify doubts, and deepen their understanding of the vital subject of special needs and caregiving.
